reasons to Lose Weight

I have had the opportunity to research along with prepare an article on Orthorexia Nervosa, an undiagnosed eating disorder where healthy eating will be taken to an unhealthy extreme. Have you ever wondered if clean eating can become obsessive or unhealthy? Unfortunately, of which can along with not because of which's a food issue yet a psychological condition where an unrealistic view of food will be adopted.

After sharing the article on Facebook, I received an outpouring of emails coming from people struggling with the disorder or tendencies to the behavior. I was deeply moved with the many thanks for addressing the issue along with providing awareness of the Orthorexia condition.

There was also quite a bit of backlash along with reference to Orthorexia being 'bullshit' along with just another money producing for the doctors. Many came to the defense of clean eating as if This kind of lifestyle was receiving a bad rap. I consider myself a clean eater yet there's a difference in healthy eating along with healthy obsessive eating. When our eating focus becomes so extreme of which negatively impacts our life, This kind of becomes a problem.

"Orthorexia will be a mental health issue, not a clean eating issue, although sparked by "pure" foods.  of which will be an issue of which requires us to look past the food along with into the mind of a struggling person."

I want to introduce you to a woman suffering coming from Orthorexia along with who has offered to share her story with privacy conditions. I have agreed to do so in order to bring awareness to the disorder along with in an effort to reach others who may be struggling. Her story will be authentic along with her struggle will be real:

I actually appreciate your article on orthorexia. I have those tendencies, yet not sure if I fall into the orthorexia category or anorexia category. I am 50 years old along with mother of two children. I have a degree in advertising along with passionate about the health along with fitness field. I do most of my work coming from home so I can spend time with my kids.

For the last 25 years, I have worked out faithfully along with followed a relatively healthy diet. When I turned 38, however, things seemed to fall apart. I began having joint problems, severe acne, along with increased thyroid problems. After some research, I eliminated gluten along with found relief in my joints, yet not my skin. After further research, I found the paleo diet. of which helped somewhat with the thyroid issues. I right now eat a diet free of all grains/soy/beans/sugar/potatoes along with most dairy.

Basically, I eat eggs, meat, veggies, fruit, nuts, along with fats. I tried the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) to clear my acne yet of which did not produce the desired results. My acne will be worse along with I lost about 15 pounds (I am below 100 pounds along with am 5'1" tall). I am not quite sure how to pull myself out of This kind of one yet I am trying to.

After "eating clean" for so long, of which's a bit hard to add things back producing sure of which I can regain the much-needed weight. My weakness will be anything chocolate, peanut butter along with/or ice cream. of which will be hard, yet sometimes I have to give myself permission to indulge. I still have to work on the guilt afterward. yet baby steps...

I'm currently seeing a naturopath for my under active thyroid. He has been a Godsend. He will be aware of my anorexia tendencies along with intercepted what could have been a much more serious situation than I am in right right now. He accepted me as a patient from the middle of a tailspin. The medical doctor I had been using for years decided to make a huge adjustment in my thyroid medication. The end results were not what he expected along with told me to see a specialist.

I chose to find a naturopath instead. He will be wonderful. yet sometimes, of which's hard to stop the tailspin mid tailspin. I have dealt with anorexia since I was 18 years old. of which will be a whole different story I expect to share someday in hopes of helping those from the same situation.

from the past, I just starved myself yet This kind of time will be different. I am eating yet eating so cleanly along with never deviating--until recently. Anorexia restricts food plain along with simple, no explanation needed when I refused food. This kind of time of which feels like life will be restricted.

How do you try along with explain of which I only eat 'not bad-for-me' food along with not of which? I am not saying of which eating healthily will be a bad thing yet there needs to be a balance. Of course, if you have sensitivities, then stay clear of the trigger foods. I have, through all This kind of, found some sensitivities (gluten along with soy) along with I avoid them to the best of my ability.

yet relaxing along with enjoying a not-so-not bad-for-you treat will be still a struggle. I somehow feel like a failure when I give in to unclean foods. Shouldn't the important thing be of which I'm enjoying a rare treat with my children? Believe me, they have noticed I no longer share from the special times. What kind of example am I setting for them?  I don't want them to think of which of which's all or nothing. They eat pretty healthily. They right now eat more fruits along with vegetables along with much less processed foods.

Beyond of which, I am so uncomfortable in my own body because I finally was able to see how thin I was thanks to my husband hurting my feelings. I thank God he was just plain honest even though of which hurt.  My acne will be embarrassing as well. I never thought of which I would likely be fighting acne at my age even with all the positives improvements of which I have made. of which's worse right now than when I was in my teens.

Darla, thank you for addressing This kind of issue along with giving me awareness. I expect to get myself back. My dream will be just to be healthy along with be able to help others suffering like I do. If you feel of which my story can help someone, then please use of which. I feel like we all go through things for a reason. If my story would likely bring awareness, I would likely feel blessed!

Sincerely,
An Orthorexia Sufferer
